YAH Purpose

The Young at Heart Ministry is for Senior Adults (those past retirement age) in the Dayton, Ohio area. We provide times of fellowship and entertainment during our monthly Luncheons. We also provide the opportunity to see interesting places and things around the area during our monthly Day Trips. Once a year (sometimes more frequently) we offer a longer trip to see areas far from Dayton. All of our programs are designed to be honoring to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Young@Heart Luncheon – October 11, 2016

This week, we had a great musical program. We began with Toni Crouch Smith playing the piano for our prelude time of fellowship, prior to the program. Listen to the prelude Piano Music, HERE. Later, Toni accompanied Robert Rhodes as he sang a wide variety of musical pieces.

Robert is our Pastor of Worship Arts. That is the big name for leading the praise singing part of our services, choir, band, orchestra, etc. Robert has been with us a few months and is fitting in very well. He rarely sings solos for our services, but he did a very good job with the music for this program. His range of music is very broad from classical, Broadway, and Popular to Country and Contemporary Worship!

Robert led us through the program by playing a little quiz game of “Who and What am I?” with us.

You can hear Robert's entire program HERE. Or watch a few YouTube video clips below. Incidentally, the audio for his entire program is far superior to what is in the Videos. So, for your best listening pleasure, listen to the audio HERE.

After the program we moved into the dining area for another one of Lisa’s very good meals (they’re all great!). We had fruit salad, Mexican chicken, and Peach Cobbler for dessert.

Scioto Hills - Seasoned Saints - Day Trip

Today, we enjoyed a nice trip to God's Country in South Central Ohio. Scioto Hills is a children's campground during the summer months but hosts a number of other events including this Seasoned Saints during the off-times.

Driving to Scioto Hills is a bit of a hike but well worth the drive, at least when someone else is doing the driving. Thanks to Al Brothers for doing this for us. Someone asked me what town the camp is near; answer - Scioto Furnace. That's not much help, I'm sure!
There was at least a little color

The program consisted of a nice meal (chunky tomato soup and turkey croissant with chips followed by a delicious oatmeal bar), Scioto Hills property update by Scott Bruns (they are purchasing more property to give them better highway access), and a musical program by GloryWay Quartet.

I have the recipe for the Chunky Tomato Soup which was excellent! I'll share that in a future newsletter.
Lunch Time!

GloryWay Quartet is a group headquartered out of Mansfield, Ohio. One of the singers is from Bellbrook. He is Justin Sayger the Bass. He is really BASE, too! Two others are from Ohio and the fourth is from Nashville. The group sings over 200 times a year and takes bookings all over the USA.
