YAH Purpose

The Young at Heart Ministry is for Senior Adults (those past retirement age) in the Dayton, Ohio area. We provide times of fellowship and entertainment during our monthly Luncheons. We also provide the opportunity to see interesting places and things around the area during our monthly Day Trips. Once a year (sometimes more frequently) we offer a longer trip to see areas far from Dayton. All of our programs are designed to be honoring to our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

March Day Trip to Cedarville University

April 14, 2014 we took a group to Cedarville University to a “Bach’s Lunch”. In reality this is a light classical music program during the lunch our in the Recital Hall. This hall is a very special place with excellent acoustics. No amplification equipment is required. You hear exactly what comes from the instruments.  In this case, all of the instruments were brass. These included two Trumpets, French Horn, Trombone, and Tuba. The group is part of the Dayton Philharmonic Symphony and is called Carillon Brass. Their primary focus is in working with school children to promote music appreciation and interest.

Charlie Pagnard leads this group and is the Principal Trumpet in the Symphony. He is also the Pastor of Worship and Music at Washington Heights. Of course, he is also a Senior Professor at Cedarville University. We will hear more from him in a special concert at our May Luncheon program. Charlie is also planning on a European Tour this summer with EuroBrass.

Of course, any Bach’s Lunch would be incomplete without a real BOX LUNCH! So, we had a good number of selections from Dorothy Lane Market!
